Does foreign (eg Spanish) music annoy you?
I only ask this question becuase I am a spanish girl who lives in a different country ( in the middle east). There are not many spanish speaking people who live here. Most of my friends are british, some american and some arabic. They say that it is cool that I am spanish... and im like... wow thankyou. However they joke and make fun of how I mostly only listen to spanish music... they think its all flamenco or ... juanes - tengo la camisa negra - sort of thing. And when I even offer to play them good spanish music... they just get very annoyed. They just dont give it a chance. NO i donnot intend to convert them all into spanish music lovers... but in a way it upsets me how they think its cheesy music... they don't anything about it. They THINK i listen to things like La Bamba... and don't realise how normal and cool spanish music is. Bands like pereza, el canto del loco, melendi, la quinta estacion :D Do you think there is a reason i don't know about why they don't even want to hear it? realy, people who think spanish music is all hyperactive and LALLAA. Youtube - El canto del loco - Peter Pan Melendi - Un violinista en tu tejado La quinta estacion - Que te queria Nena Daconte - Tenia tanto que darte Carlos Baute - Colgando en tus manos Pereza - Princesas o Estrella polar (new one) oh and don't forget La oreja de van gogh y El canto del loco - Puede ser ... mmmmmm Sorry i care too much!!!! I am from Almeria :) And I know my spanish music because I return to Spain quite frequently, a couple times a year, in order to visit family etc. And my friends there keep me up to date with music ;)

- I love Spanish music....
- it is annoying and you all talk too fast!
- Maybe they are not so cultural, they don't want to hear it. Perhaps hey are ignorant. There is a lot of good spanish music, I know because I leave in South America. But you don't have to worry about that I mean it the music you like and its the music form were you come from and if they don't like it bud luck but you continue listening to the music you like. Cheers! "La musica espaniola es muy buena!!!!!"
- No. Spanish music is some of the best around. Just watched some of the carnival shows and they are fantastico! Encore! They can really sing together and party. Copla is also great. The presenter of Se llama copla is smashing - lindo, guapa. And Cruz is the best.
- Me encanta la musica espanola. Sabes de Nacha pop, Ska- p? Me gusta la quinta estacion, y rancheras de mexico, como los tigres del norte y los vallenatos de colombia. =p Don't worry about them, they are ignorent. Maybe when they grow up they will accept other music and not just english. jose perez leon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yon5IimkxTc oh yeah i also love manu chao
- I love Spanish music of ALL types and, in the 1970's, had a part-time job in a Spaniash restaurant singing Spanish and South American songs around the tables.
- Ola! pues, a mi me encanta el canto del loco, y melendi y nena daconte!!!! i think i like spanish music more than i do english music. the best song ever has to be (for me lol) prometo guardarte en el fondo de mi corazon..... prometo acordarme siempre de aquel raro diciembre.... jajaja ya sabes cual es no??? where do you listen to spanish music? you should make fun of their music lol mi madre es igual.... se cree que toda la musica espanola es flamenco.... where are you from in spain? ahh ok.... I live in Malaga xx
- Some people are more open-minded than others, we all have to live with that. If I were you I wouldn't mind that people think my music is patchanka, they're usually the ones who don't know how to find Iraq on the map! :P
- You know egocentric right? Ok, this would be Ethnocentric. Besides, you are neglecting one thing: music itself. When you know about music you know that is does not have to do with languages. In fact, thanks whatever that there are cultures, languages, differences. Bossa is from Brazil, Troba cubana is amazing, also troba española. Jazz and blues from new Orleans. Gospels from Luisiana, Alabama. Tango is from -my own country- Argentina and Uruguay -although my fellow brothers hate to admit it. Again, being ethnocentric. About the bands you have mentioned, they are popular, succesful bands in Spain. But sorry, they are not good. They are branded bands and so-called artist. Serrat, Ismael serrano (may be), aute, Paco de lucía, Bebe (may be), Tomatito, camarón, and many not so-well knowed are good spanish music from spain. And then you have many, as I have said, Silvio Rodriguez from cuba. And thousands. Those are things that teens say when they are either teens or ignorant adults. Do care about learning about music, but spanish sounds lovely and very seductive. All languages are great, I love French, I like english, but I am proud of my language. And it is not too fast. All languages are sometimes fast if they are spoken by somebody informally or in certain regions.
