Does taking French in high school give any attributes to a movie actor/storyline writer?

I need to know this because I have been told by numerous people that the only way to make it through a foreign language class in high school is to actually want to take it. My parents won't let me take a language class unless it helps me later in life for my wanted career, and for what I know french doesn't help. But spanish does, I just really don't want to take spanish. Any help is so amazingly and greatly appreciated. THANKS!
