How much should I charge for Spanish tutoring?
I am an actor living in NY... I speak Spanish really well, since it is my first language, I also speak English really well. I am not a professional Spanish teacher, I will only do it for fun and to survive in this crazy city. Is charging $30 an hour too much? If so, what about $25? Don't want to go under 20 though... :o) Again, not professional, but great quality.

- Start at $20/hour until you become known for your abilities as a Spanish instructor.
- I'm not sure how you will be marketing your service but take a look on Craigslist.org for your city and see what others are charging for similar services. I took a quick look at NYC/craigslist.org under the "lessons" heading and it looks like in your area $20-25 is about the going rate for a face-to-face Spanish tutor.
- Research on places like Craigslist, but you should be able to charge $25 or $30 easily if you are a native speaker in NYC. Try advertising by sending notices to high school guidance counselors, posting at college campuses, etc. If you don't get enough customers, you could consider charging much less but offering group lessons, especially for kids--if you are good with kids. In the end, though, charge as much as the market will bear. If you don't get any takers, then lower the prices.
